On April 23, 2026, ICBC was honored and delighted to welcome children’s author Sara Şahinkanat on the occasion of the Vietnamese release of her books “Annemin Çantası” and “Babamın Battaniyesi”, in collaboration with the Embassy of Turkey in Vietnam, Kim Dong Publishing House, and Smiling Chestnut Kindergarten. The collection also marks the first Turkish children’s books published in Vietnam by Kim Đồng Publishing House through the introduction and support of the Turkish Embassy.
During her visit to Smiling Chestnut Kindergarten, Sara Şahinkanat, together with His Excellency Korhan Kemik, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Vietnam, and his spouse, gifted more than 300 copies of “Annemin Çantası” and “Babamın Battaniyesi” to the school’s students. At the book launch event, Sara and the Ambassador’s family also shared joyful reading sessions filled with laughter and warmth. The colorful pages and heartfelt storytelling opened up a magical journey of imagination, while also celebrating moments of closeness and love within families, captivating every child who listened to the stories.
Sara Şahinkanat is a renowned Turkish children’s writer whose works have received prestigious awards and wide recognition from readers. Her notable titles include “Kertenkele’nin Sihirli Kuyruğu” (The Lizard’s Magical Tail), “Kim Korkar Kırmızı Başlıklı Kız’dan?” (Who’s Afraid of Little Red Riding Hood?), “Annemin Çantası”, “Babamın Battaniyesi”, and “Üç Kedi Bir Dilek” (Three Cats, One Wish). As Ambassador Korhan Kemik shared during the launch event: “Through her stories, Sara has connected children who may never have met before, yet can now share the same dreams. That is a truly special and meaningful gift.”
The warm welcome from the children of Smiling Chestnut Kindergarten and the affection that young readers showed toward the books “Annemin Çantası” and “Babamın Battaniyesi” further strengthened our belief that books and stories can connect children across the world, nurturing empathy and sharing lasting values of love that transcend time and distance.
