After more than a year of research, development, and creative collaboration, ICBC, together with The Bros and B&A, with the support of the Singapore Book Council and the Asian Festival of Children’s Content, presents a completely new reading and literacy development program for children in schools in 2026.
The Discovery Week “Starting from a Page” is an experiential space for reading and exploring children’s picture books designed for students and teachers — a place where stories unfold from the pages of books and continue through images, emotions, and meaningful connections.
Throughout the week, students and teachers will have the opportunity to:
⭐ Experience a themed children’s book collection curated by ICBC, featuring titles with humanistic messages, diverse perspectives, and a spirit of nurturing a sustainable joy of reading.
⭐ Explore the children’s illustration showcase “Book Illustrators Gallery 2025” presented by the Singapore Book Council and the Asian Festival of Children’s Content, featuring children’s book illustrations rich in artistic styles, materials, perspectives, and cultural expressions from across Asia.
⭐ Participate in a series of satellite activities with authors, illustrators, and education specialists focused on children’s literature, designed flexibly to support experiential learning and adapted to different age groups and school contexts.
The theme of the 2026 Discovery Week “Starting from a Page” is “Friendship Around the World,” introducing Vietnamese and international children’s picture books that open up stories about friendship, helping children recognize and explore emotions within relationships while celebrating the beauty of diverse friendships.
In particular, artworks by 17 illustrators from Vietnam, Singapore, Taiwan, China, South Korea, India, and other countries — selected by ICBC from the “Book Illustrators Gallery 2025” of the Singapore Book Council and the Asian Festival of Children’s Content — will offer children the opportunity to enjoy outstanding picture book illustrations created by promising young artists and acclaimed illustrators who have received prestigious awards across Southeast Asia, Asia, and Asian communities around the world.
ICBC believes that the Discovery Week “Starting from a Page” will become a welcoming and educational reading space that supports the development of reading culture and nurtures a lasting love of books for children directly within their schools.
