Finnish Literature Week – Tove Jansson & Moomins Showcase

The year 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the first Moomin story created by Tove Jansson. Since its publication, this literary work — rich with reflections on growing up, loneliness, family bonds, and the longing for a place to belong — has captured the hearts of generations of readers, from children to adults, around the world. The global Moomin 80 celebration takes place under the theme “The Door Is Always Open,” spreading the deeply humanistic values of openness, acceptance, and hospitality that define the world of the Moomins.

On this special occasion, The Initiative of Children's Book Creative Content (ICBC), Kim Dong Publishing House, and the Embassy of Finland in Vietnam are delighted to join the global celebration through the program “Finnish Literature Week – Tove Jansson & Moomins 80 Showcase.” For the first time in Vietnam, readers of all ages have the opportunity to explore the life of Tove Jansson and the enchanting world of the Moomins through immersive and visually engaging showcase installations, alongside a series of educational and creative artistic activities designed for audiences of all ages, especially children.

The week offers readers — particularly Vietnamese children and families — a chance to discover the unique qualities, profound philosophy, and emotional depth of Finnish storytelling through the Moomin series published in Vietnam by Kim Đồng Publishing House, other remarkable Finnish children’s books, and newly introduced titles presented to local audiences.

We believe the program not only introduces outstanding works of Finnish literature, but also fosters cultural dialogue and spreads the joy of reading to audiences, especially young readers.

The door is always open to welcome you in!
